About The Butteri

The Butteri is a licensed, FDA-registered laboratory currently located in Memphis, Tennessee. We formulate effective skincare products using over 15 rare and exotic plant butters across our lines that are not typically found in modern skincare. Why? Because butters are biologically relevant. Period. Rich in essential fatty acids, nutrients, and skin-identical lipids, plant butters support skin barrier repair by helping skin hold onto moisture longer, and improving skin texture. 

We are not the typical body butter brand or kitchen DIY hobbyist that serves up cute little rainbow-swirled jars of whipped Shea, fragrance, and audacity. We are a group of professional cosmetic formulators that share the common goal of restoring dry, textured, and depleted skin. While most brands are only concerned with delivering marketing hype and vibes, we take butters seriously and have made them the heart of our brand. 

Unfortunately, butters have gotten a bad reputation in the skincare world as consumers often find them to be heavy, greasy and unpleasant to apply. We are here to change the game by using innovative formulation techniques combined with advanced emollients to deliver weightless, breathable products that instantly softens skin and leaves behind an invisible occlusive layer that locks in moisture. We call it "Butter Care".

On our quest to provide people with dry, textured skin an alternative to heavily occlusive and overly greasy products, we pioneered Butter Care - a skincare approach that uses clinically relevant plant butters as actives, not filler. We refine these butters into luxurious textures that makes applying and wearing them way more comfortable and appealing. We chose butters because they are rich in triglycerides, fatty acids, and sterols, which closely resembles the skin's natural lipid matrix. 

Dry skin isn’t just the lack of moisture - it is often a symptom of a compromised skin barrier. Whether from genetics, the overuse of harsh products, or chronic skin conditions, dry skin struggles to retain water and protect itself. This is where butter-based care comes in. 

Plant butters outperform oils and other emollients because they are richer in the same type of lipids that the skin naturally produces. They stay on the skin surface longer which results in a reduction of water loss, healing support, and skin that is softer and more smooth over time.
